Steamboat Falls
We managed a morning hike on the path to Whispering Camp before we took off this morning. We are headed west on 138 and a little south to Roseburg for groceries and stopping off at several waterfalls on the way, then turning North again to our next stop Hi-Way Haven just off Highway 5. First waterfall was Steamboat waterfall. Google map took us to the side of the road on a steep cliff. After some investigation we heard the falls and climbed down the cliff. It was totally loose rocks and I figured a broken ankle was a real possibility. The guy who recommended these falls said the salmon were jumping out of the water yesterday. We didn't see any fish at all. So it was a bit of a let down. Next we went to Falls Creek Falls. The hike in was only 1/2 mile but they forgot to say steep muddy path up and down and around and took us over an hour to walk. The cool thing was the path went right up to where the falls fell into a pool.

Darrel wades into the falls pool
Darrel took off his shoes and walked in. Everybody thought he'd freeze his toes off but he said it was not very cold at all. (I think we're getting acclimated.)
We went to Walmart in Roseburg and stocked up on gas and food. I spent awhile cutting up and freezing various meats and repackaging the stuff we got so it fits in our refrigerator.

Screen in the background
We arrived at Hi-way Haven just before dark. This place was a drive-in theater and they converted it to an RV park. They show a movie every night on the big drive-in screen for their RV guests. Tonight was Space Balls. They leveled the place out for the RVs but they arranged the spots staggered so you can see the screen from your cab.
Day 2: We decided to stay another day so I could cook some meals for the next couple of days, do laundry and wash our RV. I used my new Instant pot and made chili, roasted chicken and meatloaf plus put some chicken drumsticks in marinade to barbecue later. Didn't do the laundry because it ended up pouring rain and we didn't have to wash the RV either. : )

Memorial Day Pot Luck
For Memorial Day the camp had a pot luck lunch and all the campers were invited. That was fun. We sat with Belinda and Lenis and enjoyed getting to know a little about them. They travel all over the country helping people. (Mostly with prayer, I think.) Lenis is a Lakota Indian and originally from South Dakota. They seemed like a very giving couple and I was glad we got to meet them.
