Back to O'Neill April 28-May 7 Site 6

Ok, we are back at O'Neill Regional Park in Orange County. Took a Lift to Eva's house this morning and picked up our jeep. After a short visit we were back at C-19. Darrel worked on cleaning out the garage. I cleaned the stove, fridge and cleaned up the balcony flowers. This place is so clean and fixed up I hate to leave it. Well, not really, I am so ready to go. Just one more week and the real trip begins.



Eva, Clark and Finn came and stayed at the campground
in the RV on Friday, 5/3. We had grilled chicken drumsticks, salad provided by Eva. Later the boys made s'mores without the marshmallows.  The boys stays Saturday morning and helped around camp while Eva went to a church leadership retreat. The Eva drove Clark to a party and Finn and I to C-19 where we helped Darrel take stuff out of the condo. It's getting emptier.

We stayed an extra day at O'Neill's Park and sold the Prius, fixed the dishwasher and had a new smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector put in. And tomorrow we are off.

to Umpqua's Last Resort 5/23

Trail to Clearwater Falls Apparently highway 138 is close to a lot of waterfalls. On our way to Umpqua's Last Resort we stopped at two. The first one, Clearwater Falls, is a segmented fall rushing over moss covered rocks in several streams of water. It was so peaceful. Nobody was around and we sat on the bench just observing for a while. The cold finally got us up and we headed back to the RV. The second waterfall, Toketee Falls, had more of a hike to get to it. The forestry made rock steps and wooden steps up and down the side of the mountain to the falls. At the falls was a viewing platform with a huge redwood tree growing up through the middle of the platform. This was a tiered falls with a short fall on top and a longer one on the bottom. Darrel thought this was the most spectacular one so far. It was amazing. Arrived at our campsite, they changed us from site 19 to 18 which turned out to be a good thing as nobody was on our right side and we had a nice view.  The spot...

Oregon - to Collier Memorial State Park

Entrance to Hedge Creek Falls Pennys Diner Our first stop this morning was off highway 5 at Penny's Diner.  A train car looking structure on a cliff.  It had beautiful scenery and it wasn't raining. :)  (It rained all day yesterday and kept us in our RV at the last campsite) After breakfast we drove across the road under highway 5 to Hedge Creek falls and hiked the path to the falls. (Darrel braved the path longer than me, right up to the falls.) Back in the RV we drove up highway 5 to highway 97 and into Oregon. Weed Arch Our next stop was Weed, just because it was called Weed and it had a gym right off the highway. We passed into Oregon and stopped at the Welcome Center Rest Area on highway 97. It was dedicated to World War II veterans. There used to be a naval base in the area during WWII. It also had 2 poke stops and a gym. Did I mention Hedge Creek falls had a gym and two stops, also. To Lemolo Lake, Oregon

Driving up into the high mountains this morning. The forecast says snow tomorrow. Luckily, we are scheduled to stay at Lemolo Lake (KOA) for three days. I don't think we would do well driving in snow. We did see snow on the way to the campground and the peaks have snow. So beautiful. Day 2: It didn't snow here, but it snowed up higher. Lomolo Lake Trail Instead it rained all day but the trees kept it to a light rain as it filtered down. We hiked to the dam today and part way around the lake. We found a poke stop on an over grown road that isn't used anymore. It was the Lemolo Lake stop, weird. We  mostly stayed in after our hike and we watched Game of Thrones.  Before watching Season 8 we decided to go back to Season 1 and watch through the seasons up to 8.
